Yamhill County is worth talking about.
The wine country. The outdoor spaces. The local businesses and restaurants. The events. The school pride. The athletes competing in moments their families will remember for years.
There’s a lot happening here, and I want to help shine a light on it.
That’s why I started The 99.
My name is Clayton Jones. I moved to Yamhill County in February 2024 and fell in love with this place almost immediately. My wife and I bought a house here, sold it for more space, and bought again in YamCo.
We’re not going anywhere.
I’ve spent 23 years in media and content creation, from daily newspapers and sports editing to college athletics communications, photography, videography, and digital media. I know what good local storytelling looks like. More importantly, I still love doing it.
The 99 is named after Highway 99W, the road that connects so much of this county. It felt right for a publication built around the people, places, games, events, and everyday moments that make this place feel like home.

Social media that shows up in real time for games, events, restaurants, local spots, and the moments that make Yamhill County feel alive.

This week, The 99 will be at Newberg at McMinnville softball Tuesday, Dayton softball Wednesday, and Newberg baseball Thursday. Playoff season is here, and Yamhill County has stories worth telling.
