Ever have a long day and just want a well-made drink to celebrate making it through? Nothing excessive, just a great cocktail (or two) for a delicious "atta boy."
Well, do I have the place for you.
Fractal Bar in McMinnville was the spot for me on a smoky Tuesday evening. My wife and I cruised to First Street and enjoyed perusing the 23 cocktails on the menu, plus a few more from their Tuesday special that I'll get to later.
I snagged the Jungle Bird Clarified: Smith & Cross Rum, Appleton Estate Rum, Campari, rhubarb syrup, pineapple and lime. It poured crystal clear and tasted even better than it looked, so smooth I had to actively slow myself down instead of finishing it in three sips.
My wife picked from their Dogs & Daiqs Tuesday special (running through August) and landed on the Jamaican Me Crazy: Smith & Cross Rum, Plantation Pineapple Rum, tepache (fermented pineapple), ginger liqueur and lime. It went down just as easy as mine, maybe easier.
We stuck with the special for food too. I got the beer cheese hot dog with grilled onions, my wife got the street dog, bacon wrapped with relish, mustard and ketchup. The beer cheese had real kick to it, and honestly, who's ever turned down a hot dog wrapped in bacon? I’ll answer for you - nobody.
If we hadn't gone with the special, the smash burger, the patty melt and the beef crunchy wrap all had my attention too.
The room itself is easy to sit in. Local art covers the walls, all for sale, and the vibe works whether you're on a date, rolling with friends or showing up solo. We took stools at the bar, but there's plenty of table seating if you're bringing a crowd.
