In front of a packed house on a beautiful day for baseball, the Newberg baseball team came up just short Thursday to Century 10-7 and tied for the Pacific Conference title.

The Tigers finish the regular season 21-6 (12-6 PC) and will be the No. 10 seed in the 32-team 6A state tournament as it hosts South Medford 3:30 p.m. Monday.

In Thursday's matchup, the Tigers bounced back from an early 3-1 deficit to eventually take a 5-3 lead heading into the seventh. However, the Jaguars scored seven runs in the top of the frame and Newberg's rally in the bottom half came up three runs short.
